Tip #1 PRUNE LIKE A PRO
When pruning, you want to open up the centre of your plant to improve the airflow inside the bush. Ensure that you are using great tools when pruning your roses. You want a quick, clean cut so your tools should be sharp. Our Wonder Aluminium Bypass Pruners are corrosion resistant and make a nice clean cut using two curved blades that bypass each other like a pair of scissors. TIP #3 USE WATER WISE TECHNIQUES
Roses love water, but you don’t want to drown them in it. Aim to water your beauties in the morning to allow any excess water to evaporate quickly. We recommend a soaker hose (these are ideal for a bed of roses) so that water is delivered straight to the roots. Rather do a deep soaking as shallow watering won’t do too much for the roots.

TIP #4 INSPECT THOSE BEAUTIES
Roses are prone to fungal disease. It’s best to catch any problems earlier rather than later so that it will be much easier to treat. Look out for powdery mildew, black spot, spider mites, stem borers, etc. You also you want to remove any dead leaves as this will help reduce pests.

TIP #5 SOAK UP THE SUN
Roses require a minimum of 6 hours of sun a day to bloom well. Shaded areas will cause them to bloom and perform less. However some old-fashioned varieties prefer the shade (think floribundas and climbing roses). Ensure that the soil is also consistently moist as roses enjoy rich, loose soil that is rich in nutrients and that has good drainage.
