The season of spring garden cleaning is upon us! Each SA province has its own micro-climate which means you’ll need to tailor your gardening to suit your province’s weather patterns… Worried? Nip that in the bud because we have you covered. Follow our spring-cleaning garden guide by province below and watch your garden bloom:

First things first. Before any gardening ideas take root in your head (and your garden), make sure you’ve prepped your soil with Wonder Root Builder Bone Meal and compost for whatever it is you’ll be planting. The soil needs to be moist, so if you see it start to dry out, try lightly watering it twice daily.

Do your begonias have frost damage? Instead of replacing them, it’s easier to prune the damaged parts and apply Wonder Rose & Flower 8:1:5 (17) + C (8). Give your lawn a little TLC with Wonder Lawn & Leaf 7:1:3 (15) + C (8). Be sure to water it often as the weather heats up!

Plant
Spring is the perfect time to plant those perennials. Think sweet violets, carpet geraniums, columbines etc.

Clivias bloom in spring! Bring some colour to the shaded areas of your garden by planting some.

Asparagus planting time is now. If you’re interested in this veg, make sure the soil is well composted, watered and fertilised in summer. Although you’ll need some patience as you’ll only be able to enjoy it in three years.

It’s the right time to plant rows of Goldcrest as they grow well in sunshine. Once they’re over 1 metre high you can begin to trim them into the shape you desire.

Looking for a climber? Try wisteria as they love spring weather! Bonus: they’ll provide some well-needed extra shade during the hotter seasons.
